Thank you to all who attended the WSP Annual Conference!

The Wisconsin Society of Pathologists held their 2023 Annual Conference virtually on April 29, 2023. The conference included talks from speakers from all over the United States, speaking on topics such as Challenges and Best Practices in Head and Neck Frozens, Application of Ancillary Studies to Hematolymphoid Diagnoses: Reflections of a Born-Again Pragmatist, and more! The Annual Business meeting celebrated WSP's accomplishments for the year and thanked the board members for their service to WSP. The conference ended with Dr. Donald Karcher from the College of American Pathologists giving an update on the CAP's advocacy work.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this activity participants should be able to:

  • Describe unique case reports and identify solutions based on research findings.
  • Discuss the reasoning behind using an algorithmic approach to diagnosis of hematolymphoid tissues and explain the pros and cons of common ancillary tests in typical diagnostic scenarios.
  • Describe the role of restrictive transfusion in effective blood management and define transfusion thresholds and targets.
  • Determine best practices for gross handling, sectioning, and sampling of mucosal resection specimens sent for intraoperative examination for squamous cell carcinoma.
